Kate Hudson - Her Successes and Failures

Kate Hudson has certainly made a name for herself in Hollywood, and is quickly becoming one of Hollywood's most sought after leading ladies.  Not only has Kate tried her hand at television acting, she has become much more successful on the movie scene.

After graduating from a private school in California, Kate Hudson was accepted to college in New York, but decided not to go.  She exhibited a passionate desire to prove her talent on her own, without the assistance of her parents, both famous in the acting business.  Further proof of this actress' desire to succeed in Hollywood based on her own talents; she failed to gain a role in a Kurt Russell film, "Escape From L.A."   This, alone, clearly displayed her determination to prove she would never intend to use her connections in the movie industry to further her own career.

Kate Hudson's wonderful talent and strong determination finally would get her a small role on a popular Fox series, Party of Five.  It was surprising to Kate, when her character was written out after only one episode.  Kate Hudson did not give up there.  Soon after, she gave television acting one more shot in 1997 in a television program called "EZ Streets".

But as Kate Hudson continued to grow as an actress, she decided to take her acting career in a different direction.  She was able to land a movie role in 1998's film, "Desert Blue", which was not a huge success.  She continued to strive for the top and finally got some much deserved recognition after the movie, "200 Cigarettes", which also starred acting greats such as:

·                    Courtney Love

·                    Janeane Garofalo

·                     Ben Affleck

After this Kate Hudson movie, she obtained roles in several other small films, including a small, independent film, "About Adam".

As her career expanded and grew, in the year 2000, Kate Hudson landed several notable roles in major studio movies.  These movies included, "Gossip", staring Joshua Jackson and James Marsden, as well as "Dr. T and the Women", starring Richard Gere and Helen Hunt.  Although these films all got mediocre reviews, people were becoming much more aware of her acting talent.

Later in the year 2000, Kate Hudson got her big breakthrough role into the movie industry with her role as Penny Lane in the film, “Almost Famous”.  Kate was not originally cast for the role, yet a lesser role.  But when the original actress backed out, Kate was more than willing to step in.  She received an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress in her role as Penny Lane.

In the year 2002, Kate Hudson had an opportunity to star in the updated version of the film, "Spiderman", as Mary Jane Watson, so she could instead accept a role in the remake of a historical romance film, "The Four Feathers".  Although this film was not well received by many, her next film, "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days", became a huge success, which grossed over $100 million dollars.  She continues her success more recently in movies such as "The Skeleton Key" and "You, Me, and Dupree".
