Unlocking Your Child’s Potential: Why 1:1 Support Can Spark a Love of Learning
The love of learning
Every child has potential, sometimes it just takes the right approach to unlock it.
As a specialist learning support teacher and coach, I work with children who are bright, capable, and full of possibility but are struggling to show it in the classroom. Often, it’s not about ability. It’s about confidence, anxiety, executive functioning, or learning in a way that doesn’t quite fit the traditional school model.
I believe that learning should feel good. It should spark curiosity, not shut it down. And when progress is felt, even in small steps, we’re well on the way to unlocking a child’s full potential.
We All Learn in Different Ways
In a typical classroom, even the most committed teachers are stretched. They’re teaching to the group, not the individual. That means a child who learns differently, whether due to dyslexia, ADHD, anxiety, or simply a different learning style, can feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or just unseen.
That’s why I offer tailored 1:1 support for children aged 5–16.
By working closely with each child, I’m able to adapt how I teach to match how they learn. Sessions are calm, personalised, and always focused on building confidence. Whether I’m helping with literacy, numeracy, organisation, or emotional regulation, my aim is to create a safe space where learning feels achievable again.
We don’t all learn in the same way
When Learning Feels Good, Progress Comes Naturally
When children feel progress, everything shifts. They become more motivated. Their confidence builds. They begin to see themselves as capable again. And often, they start enjoying learning in a way they haven’t for a long time.
I see this time and again: children who’ve struggled with reading begin to read for pleasure. Children who’ve felt anxious about school start to contribute more freely. Children who’ve felt behind start catching up, sometimes faster than anyone expected.
This isn’t about pushing harder. It’s about meeting them where they are, and walking alongside them.
Designed for Busy Families
Many of the families I work with lead incredibly busy lives. They’ve chosen excellent schools, but they recognise that even the best schools can’t provide everything for every child. Sometimes, a more personal approach is needed.
That’s where I come in, offering specialist support that works alongside the school day. Sessions can take place in Newbury, Reading, Basingstoke, London, or online, and are always tailored around your family’s schedule and your child’s needs.
This isn’t just tutoring. It’s targeted support grounded in neurodiversity-informed teaching, coaching strategies, and years of pastoral experience.
Unlocking the fun
Is Your Child’s Potential Being Fully Realised?
As a parent, you probably have a strong instinct about whether your child is truly thriving or whether they’re just coping. If something feels off, or if you know they could be achieving more with the right help, I’d love to talk.
I offer a free 10-minute consultation to help you understand whether this kind of support is the right fit for your child. There’s no pressure, just a conversation to explore what might be possible.
